There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country. ‘Is there anything breakable in here?’ asked the postal clerk.
‘Only the Ten Commandments. ‘ answered the lady.
========

‘Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world.
There are those who wake up in the morning and say, ‘Good morning, Lord,’
and there are those who wake up in the morning and say, ‘Good Lord, it’s morning.’
========

A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn’t find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: ‘I have circled the block 10 times. If I don’t park here, I’ll miss my appointment. Forgive us our
trespasses.’
When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note ‘I’ve circled this block for 10 years. If I don’t give you a ticket I’ll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation.’
========

There is the story of a pastor who got up one Sunday and announced to his congregation: ‘I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program. The bad news is, it’s still out there in your pockets.’
========

A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a question, ‘Boys and girls, what do we know about God?’ A hand shot up in the air. ‘He is an artist!’ said the kindergarten boy. ‘Really? How do you know?’ the teacher asked. ‘You know – Our Father, who does art in Heaven… ‘
========

A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump. ‘Reverend,’ said the young man, ‘I’m so sorry about the delay.. It
seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip.’ The minister chuckled, ‘I know what you mean. It’s the same in my business.’

========

People want the front of the bus, the back of the church, and the centre of attention.

========

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, ‘I know what the Bible means!’

His father smiled and replied, ‘What do you mean, you ‘know’ what the Bible means?’

The son replied, ‘I do know!’

‘Okay,’ said his father. ‘What does the Bible mean?’
‘That’s easy, Daddy.’ the young boy replied excitedly,

‘It stands for ‘Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.”

========

Sunday after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson
was about. The daughter answered, ‘Don’t be scared, you’ll get your quilt.’
Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the pastor
stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning’s Sunday school
lesson was about. He said ‘Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming.’

Who’s in Your Basket? November 14, 2009

Last night I was in a small church meeting, the preacher spoke of different experiences that he had. He spoke of how he had grown up in a Christian home, but he just thought Christianity was not for Him. So he didnt get involved with church. He met a young girl who would someday become his wife and when it came to introducing his girlfriend to his family he warned them, dont preach at her or sing songs or give her tracks or anything. Eventually they got married and his family continued witnessing to his wife. She got saved after going to a church meeting.

His wife would continually pray for him, praying that he would get saved. Eventually he got saved to. But he made the point, he was in his families and his wife’s basket. You see God will put people in our paths or our baskets, which other Christians may never be able to reach. .

So I want to ask these questions. . Who is in your basket?? and What are you doing to reach them?

It’s worth a thought, have a good day

Life is changed, not ended November 10, 2009

For those of You who know me or who have read my last post I have recently lost my granda. It’s been a tough weekend, seeing family members in pieces and coming to the realisation that I will never see my granda again. It’s hard to understand the how You feel when You lose someone, but yesterday at the funeral these words comforted me,

LIFE IS CHANGED NOT ENDED

My mum told me of a man she knew who said “Have Your bags packed!!!”

Basically be ready to die because, frankly there is nothing to say You will be alive by the time You finish reading this post, which is kind of scary. I think   of us expect to be lying in a hospital bed before we die, time to “get right with God”

There is no guarantee of You or me having a death-bed, my granda’s death was unexpected. So I guess what I want to say is:

  • Love everyone
  • Tell your loved ones that You do love them
  • Don’t hold grudges
  • Forgive and forget
  • Live in preparation for Your death
  • Don’t regret smiling
  • Treat every breath as if it were You last
  • And finally keep short accounts with God

I just want to share this song as it has brought me comfort this past few days. .

Please keep my family in prayer as this is obviously a hard time.

Today I got the news that my Granda passed away. I heard a man tell a story of a girl who was having a hard time and she was in her bedroom and she listened to the song “Praise You in this storm” by ‘casting crowns.’ The words simply say,

“I’LL PRAISE YOU IN THE STORM AND I WILL LIFT MY HANDS CAUSE YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE NO MATTER WHERE I AM AND EVERY TEAR I’VE CRIED YOU HOLD IN YOUR HAND YOU’VE NEVER LEFT MY SIDE ALTHOUGH MY HEART IS TORN”

The song also says

“I’ll lift my eyes unto the hills where does my help come from my help comes from the Lord the maker of heaven and earth” which is taken from “Psalm 121 1&2″

Here is the song listen to the amazing words.

Thanks for reading

Everyone needs a friend =] November 2, 2009

Below is an inspirational story I got emailed to me,

One day, when I was a freshman in high school,

I saw a kid from my class
was walking home from
school.

His name was Kyle..

It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

I thought to myself, ‘Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?
He must really be a nerd.’
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him..

They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.

His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him…

He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, ‘Those guys are jerks.’

They really should get lives.

‘ He looked at me and said, ‘Hey thanks!’
There was a big smile on his face.

It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before..
He said he had gone to private school before now.

I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football
with my friends
He said yes.
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
I stopped him and said, ‘Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
‘ He just laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends..
When we were seniors we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke.
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never
be a problem.
He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship..

Kyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn’t me having to get up there and speak
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.
He looked great.
He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him. Boy, sometimes I was jealous! Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, ‘Hey, big guy, you’ll be great!’
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.

‘ Thanks,’ he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began ‘Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach…but mostly your friends….
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story.’
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the first day we met.
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn’t have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
‘Thankfully, I was saved.
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable..’
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it’s depth. Never underestimate the power of your actions.. With one small gesture you can change a person’s life.
For better or for worse.
God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way.

So don’t worry about befriending somebody who may not be the “coolest kid on the block” cause You never know their situation, how their feeling or what their thinking, so dont worry what people will say if You befriend someone, cause everyone needs a friend.

Hi everybody, I want to do a post today on the Gaither Vocal Band. Earlier in the month I went to see them, the have amazing talent and I would suggest You check them out. Bill Gather is what You make call the leader or founder. He tours the world bringing other bands along with Him. Bill Gather has also written along with His wife many well-known chorus’ that are sung in churches around the world such as “Because He Lives” and “He Touched Me” which He wrote for Elvis Presley to sing.

Bill brought a young man with Him with an amazing voice. His name is David Phelps, so sit back and listen to this amazing voice. (It may be a little early for this song, but sure it will get us in the Christmas Spirit, Listen to the song the full way through.)

Hope You enjoyed it

Keep on Shining
